Why go to church?
According to this article, about 3 out of 8 members of Southern Baptist Churches attend their churches’ worship gatherings. Ignoring the distinction between members and “regular attenders” I’d say that Jewel Lake Parish does slightly better: we have about 100 people on the books and, apart from an occasional summertime service with 41 people in worship—ouch!—we average about 55 attenders every week, or a little more than half.
Why so few? Or maybe, why so many? The article has a pretty good list of consequences of not participating in the regular gatherings of your faith community for worship.
